  1. Static websites and dynamic websites are two types of websites that exist on the internet. Though the number of static websites in today’s world is considerably less than dynamic websites, but they both co-exist and cater to different use cases and scenarios. Key Differences: U ser Interaction: Static websites do not provide user interaction. They are mostly informational. The site visitor in no way can interact with the content of the site. The flow of information is unidirectional i.e. from the owner/designer of the website to the website visitor. S TATIC WEBSITE INFORMATION FLOW DIRECTION Whereas, dynamic websites provide user interaction in a variety of ways. The flow of information is bi- directional. D YNAMIC WEBSITE INFORMATION FLOW DIRECTION T ype of Content: Static websites are fixed and display the same content for every user. Dynamic websites can display different content for different users C oding Environment: A static website is usually created with HTML and CSS in

  2. simple text editors like notepad. Whereas special IDE (Integrated Development Environment) is required to build dynamic websites using both client-side scripting languages like HTML, CSS and server-side scripting languages like JavaScript, PHP, ASP etc. U se of Databases: Since static websites do not provide user interaction hence they don’t need database. Dynamic websites need backend databases to store and organize user responses/feedback. E ase of Creation and Maintenance: Static websites are easy and cheap to create and deploy with little to no maintenance costs because they require a very limited set of skills, mainly HTML and CSS. On the other hand, developing dynamic websites require special skill sets and expertise that’s why they are costly to develop, deploy and maintain. P age Load Time: Static websites load faster because they are very lightweight. When a user requests the specific site, the HTML code behind the website is parsed directly on the client browser. In contrast dynamic websites take a little bit more time to load. When a user requests a website, first of all the server-side scripts are parsed at the server end before sending the resulting HTML code to the client browser where again the client-side scripts are processed before displaying the final content to the user. C hange in Content: In static websites, the content remains unchanged unless it’s changed from the source code and changes to the main page require editing of each page. Whereas, content in dynamic websites change according to user responses.
