  6. Aberdeenshire’s Equalities Mainstreaming Report and Equality Outcomes • Report published in April 2013. • Progress Reports published in April 2015. • Fresh report and outcomes by April 2017. • Six monthly updates to Elected Members:- • Policy and Resources Committee • EL&L Committee

Aberdeenshire Equality Outcomes • Aberdeenshire Council staff and Councillors have an increased understanding about the challenges facing people from different groups and will respond to their requirements • Members of the public are able to access our services with ease and confidence • Aberdeenshire Council is an inclusive workplace where employees are respected and have an equal opportunity to achieve their full potential. • Communities and businesses understand, welcome and respect diversity • Everyone enjoys equal access to education, training and employment • Access to life opportunities is enhanced by reducing barriers.

  8. Equalities Governance Framework

Role of Service Network Group is to: • Ensure the council comply with equality legislation; • Support the Corporate Equalities Group in delivering and promoting the consistent expectation message around Equalities and the Equality Outcomes; • Provide the Corporate Equalities Group with updates via the lead person; and • Roll out information from Corporate Equalities Group • Liaise with Service Champions. • ECS Network contact is Kat Burke.

  10. Role of Service Champions • To be an ambassador for equalities; • To champion equalities at meetings; and • To attend equalities related internal events.

  11. Equalities Uncovered - 5 Key Points for Every Employee • Respecting Diversity • Ask your Service Champion • Consider equalities before you carry on: EIAs • Challenge Discrimination and Harassment • Interpretation and Translation Service

  12. Prejudice and Discrimination Report Form • If a Prejudice and Discrimination incident takes place in the presence of an employee of Aberdeenshire Council, (particularly those who have frequent contact with members of the public) they should report a Prejudice and Discrimination incident when one occurs. • Completed Prejudice and Discrimination Reports must be sent to the Equalities Team and you must inform your manager or if the incident occurs at a school, the Headteacher. • Support is available from your line manager or through askHR• If the issue relates to a child/pupil, please also refer to the Education & Children’s Services anti-bullying policy.
