  1. Orderliness In Worship 1 Corinthians 14:26-40

  2. What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and God. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home.

  3. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached? If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized. So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But all things should be done decently and in order. 1 Corinthians 14:26-40

  4. What Then?

  5. WHEN You Come Together

  6. “Sometimes I wonder if the frequency and seriousness of many problems that Christians face is not owing to the fact that most Christians in America do not experience relational, interpersonal, supernatural church life the way the New Testament describes it. Psychological problems, marriage problems, parenting problems, self-identity problems, financial problems, career problems, loneliness, addictions, phobias, weaknesses—I wonder if the epidemic of emotional and psychological woes is not the symptom of an organic flaw in the way most Christians experience corporate church life.” (John Piper)

  7. spiritual gift: ability given by the Holy Spirit to express our faith effectively (in word or deed) for the strengthening of someone else’s faith. God given (grace) capacity to serve the Body of Christ by communicating the knowledge, power and love of Jesus.

  8. Practical Rules for Tongues (If any) 2 or 3; take turns (not simultaneously) Someone interpret No interpreter, keep silent

  9. Practical Rules for Prophecy (Let) 2 or 3; take turns Others weigh what is said: New revelation, let the first be silent.

  11. Biblical Interpretation (Hermeneutics) 2 main principles Scripture does not contradict scripture or what is clear in the bible interprets what is cloudy Every text must be understood in its context--historical, cultural, and social
