  1. ONE VERSE Evangelism

  2. We need to understand • OURSELVES – we don’t need to be PERFECT to share the Gospel, we just need to be AUTHENTIC. CONNECTION

  3. CONNECTION 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

  4. We need to understand 1. OURSELVES – we don’t need to be PERFECT to share the Gospel, we just need to be AUTHENTIC. CONNECTION 2. OTHER PEOPLE – no two people are alike. God want us to share the gospel in a way that people understand. COMMUNICATION

  5. COMMUNICATION 1 Corinthians 9:22 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.

  6. We need to understand 1. OURSELVES – we don’t need to be PERFECT to share the Gospel, we just need to be AUTHENTIC. CONNECTION 2. OTHER PEOPLE – no two people are alike. God want us to share the gospel in a way that people understand. COMMUNICATION 3. THE MESSAGE – the METHOD may change but the MESSAGE will always be the same. CHALLENGE

  7. “One Verse Evangelism”? Why? • Simple • Clear - you only use one verse. There is less to memorize • Short – you can share the Gospel in 10-15 minutes • Natural - One Verse Evangelism is interactive

  8. The Verse Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord Write this verse on a sheet of paper.

  9. How to ShareOne Verse Evangelism How? 1st Part Bad news – talk about the problem 2nd Part Good news – Talk about the Solution 3rdPart The source – Who is the Solution

  10. How to ShareOne Verse Evangelism How? • You need a written copy of the verse a. From a Bible b. From a tract c. Write it on a sheet of paper or on a tissue. • Do NOT tell – Ask! You want to enter into dialogue 3. Focus on the key words of Romans 6:23

  11. Key Words BUT WAGES SIN DEATH GIFT OF GOD ETERNAL LIFE CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

  12. Making One Verse EvangelismPresentation • Ask the person what they think the key words mean. • Go one key word at a time, beginning with “wages” • After they have shared what they think the word means, help them clarify what they said.

  13. Key Question The Bible is a big thick book, would you be interested if I could sum up the message of the Bible in only one verse? Write down Romans 6:23

  14. Key Word “wages” What do you think the word “wages” means? It is something that you earn or deserve. If you work 40 hours at P40 an hour, you earn P1600.

  15. Key Word “sin” What do you think the word “sin” means? “Sin is more of an attitude than an action – it can be a hostile or apathetic response to God. Have you ever sinned? I have too…

  16. Key Word “death” What do you think the word “death” means? Death actually means separation. So when the Bible says that “the wages of sin is death”, what do you think it is saying? What we earn by sinning is death or separation from God.

  17. Key Word “but” What do you think the word “but” means? There is hope! Even though our sin separates us from the perfect God, He loved us so much and wants to be with us that He has made a way for us to be together with Him!

  18. Key Word “gift” What do you think the word “gift” means? Can you actually earn a gift? NO a gift is giving out of love for someone, not because of what they do. No, a gift is giving out of love for someone, not because of what they do. If it is earned, it is no longer a gift but a wage.

  19. Key Word “God” Who is GOD? The giver of the gift “God wants to give you a gift. I can’t give it to you; a church can’t give it to you; no one can give you this gift but God alone. Why do you think God would want to give you a gift?

  20. Key Word “eternal life” What do you think “eternal life” mean? Eternal life would be… Experiencing life forever with God If the word “death” means separation, then life must mean “together”. Eternal life would be experiencing life forever with God. Life is community with God.

  21. Key Word “Christ Jesus” Who is Christ Jesus? The only Son of God Jesus Christ is the only Son of God. We have eternal life when we believe in Jesus. God takes the wages of our sin, and puts them on Jesus instead of us.

  22. Key Word “LORD” What do you think the word “lord” means? He is in control Nowadays, we might use the term “boss” or “leader”. It means that we have given control over to someone else. Jesus is Lord of our life, He is in control

  23. CONFESSION AND SURRENDER CONFESSING – means to agree with God. SURRENDER – means to allow Christ to be the final authority in our lives.

  24. “Dear Lord, I confess that I have sinned and don’t deserve to be with you in heaven. I believe that Jesus died to pay the price of my sins. Please forgive me, come into my heart, be the Lord of my life and help me to live for You from now on. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
