  1. Do you want to learn mostly on technical skill on how to construct a new model (conceptual and mathematical) or do you want to make use of an already available model

  2. Models can be useful for many different spatial and temporal scales Detailed models for specific small scales or general and simplified models for large scales are typical examples of different scales

  3. Models may be useful to understand the past or to make predictions for the future. What is your choice ?

  4. Models can be understood as a combination of data and equations. All models are substitutes for the reality and only partially valid Do you want to work with models for understanding the uncertainty in model structure (equations) or in the model parameters (coefficients)

  5. Modelling is to a large extent a communication issue. Do you want to work in a group or do you prefer to work individually in your project

  6. Modelling results can be communicated in many different ways. Visualization of processes by animation and creating graphics is a large part of the modelling process. However,  traditional writing and communication with normal language is still requested in most cases.

  7. Many hydrological question are very complex and related to issues where water is part of a  larger system. Do you want to focus on the quantity of water in itself or do you want to consider water related problems,

  8. A major issue is about climate change and hydrology. The are very much interlinked What is your choice if you should work on this ?

  9. Integrated Water Resource Management is a well know concept within the water sector and hydrology where modelling is believed to be of high importance for understanding both human and a technical dimension. Give some comments on how you believe that your skill in modelling can develop the future management of global and and regional water resources.
