  3. !1776 is here! Think history can't be funny?   Think again!! Come join us for a song and dance look at the signing of the Declaration of Independence on Wednesday, January 30th.   Pick up a form, get your permission slip signed and turn in your $10 check to the GOAL office at the same time.   Slips will not be accepted without checks.   Please note: GOAL can only accept checks as payment.

The Frick Historical TourThursday, January 25, 2013 Experience the culture and refinement of the Gilded Age!  We will tour the Clayton house, the Car and Carriage Museum, and the Frick Museum's current exhibit on World Fairs!  The museum and its multiple collections are the legacy of Helen, daughter of Henry Clay Frick, one of America's wealthest industrialists and art collectors.  This day will focus on these Industrialists, their excess wealth and the changes they brought to our society.  Brown Bag Lunches! Your day will include a tour and  a hands-on activity

  8. NATIONAL GERMAN EXAM Wednesday January 24, 2013 Students who have pre-registered with their German teacher will receive instructions prior to the exam.  Please report promptly to the exam site.

National History Day at the Senator John Heinz History Center encourages students to research history in an exciting and creative way.  Either individually or in groups, students create exhibits, produce documentaries, write papers, design websites, or stage performances.  Each activity is judged and first, second, and third place winners move on to state and possibly national competition. The competition will take place in March with winners moving on to state level which will be held on May.  For more information visit: www.nationalhistory.org Stop into the GOAL office to get started!!!i

  10. MOCK TRIAL Please see Mrs. Urbaniak during lunch today if you did not attend yesterday's meeting!  I have hand-outs for you! *All Mock Trial team members must attend the rehearsal on Wednesday, January 3rd from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

National Computational Linguistics Olympiad Compete against high school students across the United States Sponsored by highly selective colleges and national corporations such as Carnegie Mellon University, U of Michigan, National Science Foundation and Intelligent Systems!   12.   A summer enrichment program run by the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science for local area high school students. Through special classes and guest faculty presentations, students discover the exciting and vast possibilities of computer science. Students LEAP ahead ten years in their understanding as they are exposed to the frontiers of computer science research.      Students interact with notable scientists, visit cool,  eading-edge local companies and dive into their own  projects. They emerge with a vivid overview of Computer  Science at Carnegie Mellon.
