If you have deleted the request you can go to www.apeleducators.org and just click on the link there. Your cooperation will be appreciated. Another message sent to everyone this week was from Keith Courville, Director of Professional Development and University Programs for A+PEL reminding you that A+PEL is sponsoring sessions on the state’s new value added program. These sessions are strictly informational. They will be presented by Danielle Rowland of the Louisiana Dept. of Education. Sessions will be located in Monroe on Jan. 23rd, Lake Charles on Jan. 25th, and Lafayette on Jan. 26th. We are strongly urging those interested to view the flyer (as seen on the next page) for more information and pre-register at http://www.apeleducators.org/calendar.cfm . LEGAL MATTERSAssociated Professional Educators of Louisiana provides full legal services and professional assistanceto its members.  The Director of Professional and Legal Services and the A+PEL staff review matters of concern to members, make recommendations, and if necessary, assign attorneys to individual cases.  If members prefer to use an attorney of their own choosing, A+PEL will endorse that choice.  Attorney fees are paid by A+PEL in keeping with existing insurance provisions.  Members with questions or in need of assistance should contact: Polly Broussard, Director of Legal Services, (800) 231-9489 or email: pjbroussard21@bellsouth.net . UNINSURED COWORKERS We all know coworkers who don’t belong to any teaching organization. They need to be encouraged to join one of them (hopefully A+PEL) if only for the insurance coverage. If they say they can’t afford it, ask if they would be able to afford being sued because their home insurance will not cover them and their school board only covers a small amount (if any) . (Dues are prorated for the second semester.)
