Role of VicHealth • Established in 1987 to replace tobacco sponsorship at art and sporting events. • Also focussed on health promotion and disease prevention. • Now focussed on programs that encourage participation. • Aim to raise awareness to promote change in both individuals and communities.

  4. VicHealth projects (Cont’d) • Out of school hours sports – Games after school. • Active club grants – Money for sports clubs to buy equipment, shelter and train volunteers. • SunSmart– Safety in the sun

  6. Priorities for focus • S – Reducing Smoking. • N – Improving Nutrition. • A – Reducing harm from Alcohol. • P – Increasing Physical activity. • S – Increasing Social and economic participation. • - Reducing harm from UV exposure.
