  2. What led to the Soviet takeover A treaty was enforced between Afghanistan and Soviet Union The leaders of PDPA called for the troops of the soviet union because there where two groups, communist, noncommunist. PDPA = People’s Democratic Party Of Afghanistan Edwin Thomas

  3. Continued… A Marxist group in Afghan joined the Afghan army and took power of Afghanistan (bloodless) Uprisings to try and over throw government in different parts of the country Edwin Thomas

  4. Continued… The KGB collected info and believed that a leader was trying to get help from the U.S or have a western slide in government The KGB put a plan into motion and invaded Afghan and joined forces with soldiers already in Afghanistan Edwin Thomas

  7. Impact The president of the United States of America boycotted the Olympics in Moscow The Soviet had 80,000 troops both KGB and Spetsanz Tanks, paratroops etc. Full scale war Edwin Thomas

  8. Continued… The Soviet union fought Afghans for ten years in a war The Afghans called it a holy war Jihad People where recruited at schools and mosque The U.S and Great Britain added the Afghani's with guns and air missiles Answers

  9. Continued… That was the turning point in the war As an outcome al Qaeda was formed they didn’t like the non believing Muslims Terrorist groups 9/11 was an outcome of the Soviet war in Afghan because they sparked al Qaeda Answers

  10. Changes in society People left Afghanistan shaken Al Qaeda terrorist Taliban took control and banned all the other political parties They did not like the Non believers and things went down hill for Afghanistan
