  1. Struggle is Part of the Journey As we Grow in Grace. Grasp for Spiritual Maturity. Graduate in all Aspects into Christ.

  2. Jesus • Had upset in His life. • Temptation. • Loss. • Persecution and suffering. • The likes I can’t comprehend at the hands of his tormentors leading up to and including His being nailed to a cross.

  3. Joshua 1:9   “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

  4. II Corinthians 12:9-10 •   “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

  5. Romans 5:3-5 •   “ Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

  6. Hope • Confident expectation of something good. • Why? Because God is Good.

  7. Psalm 27:1-3 •  “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?  When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.  Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.”

  8. II Corinthians 4:16-18 •   “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

  9. I Corinthians 10:13 •   “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

  10. I Corinthians 10:13 • No temptation has overtaken you that is unusual for human beings. But God is faithful, and he will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength. Instead, along with the temptation he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to endure it.

  11. Struggle • To contend with an adversary or opposing force. • To contend resolutely with a task, problem, etc; strive: to struggle for existence. • To advance with violent effort: to struggle through the snow. • (Of athletes and competitors) to be coping with inability to perform well or to win; contend with difficulty: After struggling for the whole month of June, he suddenly caught fire and raised his batting average 30 points.

  12. Hebrews 12:2-4 • Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. God Disciplines His Children. In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

  13. C.S Lewis • If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth, only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair.
