  1. The Importance of a Christian Funeral Service The concept of heaven, hell, and purgatory is central to the Christian religion. The actions a person takes during their lifetime will determine where their soul will ultimately finish up; the righteous will go to heaven and be with the Lord, while the sinners will go to hell. According to Christian doctrine, persons who have committed atoning sins throughout their lifetime must spend some time in purgatory before entering heaven. When a loved one passes away, a series of rules and rituals known as Christian burial rites are performed. A few examples of common rites are, but are not limited to – Prayers, Bible readings, and a eulogy, the Committal Rite. All these can be overwhelming immediately after losing a loved one and this is where a company providing Christian funeral service comes into the picture. A Christian funeral liturgy is unique to the deceased, like most religious funerals. Prayers, a sermon, readings, hymns, and occasionally music or poems are also included in the service, which is typically held at a church, crematorium, or cemetery. For more information, visit our guides to the best funeral songs and notable funeral poems. Additionally, as a memorial to the deceased, a friend or family member may decide to give the eulogy. A Christian funeral's main goal is to ease the deceased's soul into Heaven while also providing consolation and support for the bereaved. Before the funeral service The vigil – this is a ritual where the loved ones of the deceased get together and remember the dear departed, by exchanging things about them. They also sing hymns and poems and this is considered to be a celebration of life. After all the rites have been completed the deceased is committed to the earth and then the loved ones, friends and family of the deceased get together at the reception or what is commonly known at the wake. Food and refreshments are offered and sometimes hymns are sung in the memory of the dear departed. Nowadays there are professional Christian funeral services that take care of everything required in a Christian funeral.
