  9. Field Placements at work • Relationship between employment and education: description and relationship between planned learning experiences and student's regular work assignments. Learning assignments for field are clearly distinct from the responsibilities of current paid employment. A student’s current job may not be used to meet the requirements of an MSW-level field placement. A student may, however, request to complete their field placement at their place of employment as long as the learning assignments for field are different than that of their current paid employment. Students may also request to complete field requirements by using a new position in their agency, clearly documenting that the activities will be different than prior employment responsibilities. Provide a clear description of the logistics of completing the required field hours, whether this be in addition to or as a replacement to present job responsibilities.-MSW Field Manual, 2013

  10. Child Welfare and Clinical Scholarship Students • If you have a child welfare or clinical scholarship you are required to complete your field placement in a child welfare or clinical field placement setting • Talk with the Field Director about what agencies/placements qualify for these placements • These placements are reserved for MSW students receiving scholarships • If there are openings in these agencies after the students with scholarships have all secured their field placements, spots may open up for other MSW students

  11. More details…. • Field II placements begin the week of September 1st • Field I placements begin the week of Sept 15th • Seminars do fill up so if you want to get your first choice, best to get your placement arranged early in the summer • New incoming MSW students as well as BSW/MSW students from CSS and UWS will also be seeking field placements so best to arrange yours sooner, rather than later
