  1. Eco-friendly Dental environment

  2. What is it? • Also known as green dentistry • refers to the delivery of oral health care and dental treatments using technologies, procedures and materials that promote environmental and planetary health.

  3. Why I chose this topic I chose this topic because I had an interest in how the world of dentistry plays important role in the environment.

  4. Why is it important “It is our belief that there should be no such term as “environmentalists.” To refer to a segment of society who cares about the health and welfare of the planet as such is akin to using the term “human rightists” for those who show compassion and offer aid to their fellow human beings.” -DR. ALI FARAHANI

  10. How it Starts.. I generated my own survey on a free email based website called surveymonkey.com and sent it out to over 50 dental offices in Texas. It basically asked if they knew about Green Dentistry and how well they were invovled.

  11. Do you know what Green Dentistry is?

  12. Does your office practice any type of Green Dentistry?

  13. What type of x-rays does your facility use?

  14. Do you think Dental hygiene or education skills on a patient play a role in green dentistry?

  15. How helpful was this survey?

  16. End of survey Info. Having an eco-friendly Dental environment is Strongly recommended because as healthcare providers we must care for the environment as well because it is impossible for healthy people to live on such a sick planet. The EDA estimates 1.7 billion sterilization pouches and 680 million chair barriers, light handle covers and patient bibs end up in landfill each year from US dental offices alone! That's why Dentistry plays an important role in the environment. A solution for that can be to Switch to re-usable cloth infection control and sterilization products, choose and eco-friendly disinfectant and line cleaner, use bulk-prophy paste to reduce the waste from single-serving packaging. Some other ways to help could to Build a new facility out of steel which means less trees being cut down. You can keep in mind that being eco-friendly also means better practices for yourself to keep stress level a minimum as well as for the patient. Also to provide the best care to the patient possible as well. Being Green can be outstandingly beneficial which includes Less Radiation. Better Diagnostic Detail, Less Chemical Contamination, Fewer Disposables, More Natural-looking Restorations, And Less Heavy Metal Waste! Practicing Green Dentistry can reduce waste, pollution. Its wellness based and can save lots of energy, water and money!! Thank you very much for your time! Stay Green Stay Clean! 17. Helpful Or Not? 50 out of 50 Dental offices had an idea of what it was, but about 25% didn’t really believe in being eco-friendly at all. By the end of the survey 25% of the 50 dental offices were influenced to practice Green Dentistry and at least all who took the survey showed some sort of interest.

  18. Stay clean! And Stay Green!
