Business Affairs Update – Effort Certification • New Effort Reporting System - ecrt • Replaces current PARs System • Affects personnel paid at least partially by a grant fund that is a Sponsored Project or an associated cost share fund. • Payroll data loaded nightly from Banner to ecrt based on IBS (Institutional Salary Base) codes, which represent an individual’s total guaranteed annual compensation.

Business Affairs Update – Effort Certification • Why We Must Certify • Certification of effort is a requirement by Federal Agencies who sponsor these projects ((OMB) 2 CFR 220 Appendix A, Section J (10)) • Persons paid from a Sponsored Project or associated cost share fund must certify the percent of time they spent working on the project (HSC O.P. 76.07)

Business Affairs Update – Effort Certification • Changes from Current System • Departmental Effort Coordinator Role • Communicate with PIs and Researchers • Process Certifications • Feedback to FSM, Office of Sponsored Projects and IS • Pre Certification Period • Effort Coordinators Review Effort Statements Prior to Release • Make Necessary Labor Re-distributions • Labor Re-distributions Will Update Effort Statements
