  1. Test Protocol for Extreme Condition (Environment)(TPEE) API Task Group Khedher Mellah

  2. Introductions

  3. HPHT Question • What if the HPHT environment is defined? • What if you have to Qualify your product once? • What if you have the test protocols? • —————A————— • How would this impact your projects? • How would it impact you business?

  4. HPHT

  5. TPEE Goal • Define the various HPHT environments • Define test specification based on environment • Identify the tests needed to achieve acceptable reliability of a completions system in HPHT environments • Agree on set of test that fit the various HPHT environments • Focus on the final system functionality and reliability • Find alignment on testing issues between manufacturers and customers

  6. TPEE Goal • Produce a resource document outlining the test procedures for the completion system • Test procedures • Agreed on by API members • Developed by SME • Adopted by manufacturer and customers

  7. TPEE • Focus on finished system design • Equipment acceptance: • Performs its function when operated in specific manner under the specified condition for the designed length of time • Accelerated test specifications • Condition framing

  8. 6HP and TPEE • TPEE is an effort that complements 6HP • Focus of design validation thru testing • Testing dictated by the HPHT environment and the desired reliability • TPEE effort will be aligned with 6HP • TPEE effort will be aligned with all API sections • TPEE will be transparent

  9. Structure under API

  10. Phased process: Phase I • Develop the Document • Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) • Reliability based tests • SME involvement (Material, Design, Operation) • API sections involvement • Provide the final product as a resource document to the EC

  11. Phased process: Phase II • Recommendations discussion • Reliability based discussion • Test recommendations (FMEA) • API sections control • SME involvement (Material, Design, Operation) • Decision to classify the recommendations • Annex to the standard • Elevate to an RP • Make an HPHT standard

  12. Phased process: Phase III • EC final decision on the work • Reliability based decision • Test recommendations (FMEA) • API sections recommendation • Decision to adopt the recommendations as set forth by the API section

  13. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis • Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)

  14. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis • Material expertise • Elastomer expertise • Design expertise • Operation expertise • API section member (2, 5, 6, …, 14, …) • 7-12 people

  15. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis • Performed over one full day • The work group will decide at the end if they need more time

  16. The Process • Collect existing FMEA worksheets • Existing FMEA on the item • Pre-filled Worksheet • Simultaneous FMEA sessions can happen concurrently

  17. What we need today • Completion experts for the Task Group. • General completion expertise • Subject matter experts for the FMEA sessions • SCSSV, Tree, Packers, … • Other experts to review the work
