  1. Overcoming Low Self Esteem: Key to Successful Relationshipswww.overcominglowselfesteem.com

  2. Overcoming low self esteem is important for a successful marriage for this can be the reason of success or the cause of failure in a relationship. Most of us are familiar with the emotional necessities and how they relate to our partners. There are also various reasons that could ruin a relationship, but if we would look closely on each one of them, we would be able to see that they would all go down to one root: Low Self Esteem.

  3. I have once been in a relationship that was manipulated by the compulsive and disastrous effects of low self esteem. I was only 16 when I met John and he was 23. He was kind and caring and he told me things that swept me off my feet. We were young, wild and carefree. But those days disappeared in a snap, because just over a year later, I became a mother. • Moving in with John was grueling, but I was sure and excited about it. We lived in an old dilapidated building with our newborn daughter but I was alright about it because I love him and it is the only thing he could afford for us. We started to be okay, we haven’t got much, but we were doing just fine or so I thought we were until low self esteem took hold of my family and my life.

  4. Since I haven’t finished school and I have to look after my child, John was the one providing our needs. Though his income was never really enough, I was okay with it. But then I started to notice things changed between us. He began pestering me about not having to provide anything for the family and then he started telling me that he regret we met because I was just dragging his life. This drastically lowered down my already low self esteem. Eventually, his verbal insults turned into physical, sexual and emotional abuse and this went on for years. My life because I was afraid he would leave me and I might not be able to survive because I am weak and no one would ever want to be with a disgraceful girl like me.

  5. Soon, I started my journey towards overcoming low self esteem by doing what’s best for me and my daughter and that was to start living without John. It was hard, but I had to because I have to make things right to become a better person. Soon enough, I was comfortable with myself again. I became positive and confident in life because I have learned to love and accept myself for who I really am. • I became conscious of the fact that he used my low self esteem to have me believing in his false perception of our relationship. The truth stung a lot, but it felt good at the same time. As what Stephen Chbosky said, “We only accept the love we think we deserve.” And I deserve to be loved by myself. No more false perception of self worth, no more low self esteem.
