  4. Student central overview Our individualized approach enables students to the get the information and the specific level of support they need. Systematic internal processes enable students to receive more efficient responses to their questions and inquiries. • The key components are: • Delivering DeVry Care • Ensuring the convenience of a one-stop shop approach for student’s questions and needs • Taking a proactive approach to help students overcome challenges and obstacles that get in the way of their success • Providing an unparalleled level of support with each student having an assigned Student Support Advisor

  5. Roles in student central • Student Support Advisors provide a single point of contact for students and assists student with both their financial planning AND academic planning. Their expertise in both areas enable SSAs to promote student success through accurate and responsive advisement in the areas of academics, student finance and service related areas. • Depending on the location, the OSC can support recruitment/admissions, registration/SC, or even academics. When located in Student Central, they are responsible for greeting both prospective and current students. OSCs can also assist students with various student service issues and can also assist faculty. • The leader is ultimately responsible for the day-to-day operations for the department. This includes ensuring that all processes are followed and documented, that training is completed, that the staff are being evaluated according to their TKOs and that the staff receives support as needed. • The Department of Enrollment Management (DEM)) is responsible for providing information on DeVry University programs to prospective new students and all other information and activities pertaining to new student recruitment. FPO and student finance questions The SSA can answer questions at any time for the student to make sure that they can complete all the necessary steps in the process. • Questions can include: • The FAFSA and what is needed • Eligibility and if they are eligible • Dependency • MyCompass Day 1 – and stalling points

  11. Financial aid start (FAST) How can I afford to attend school? STEP 1: Review the student’s ISIR confirmation page STEP 2: Complete an Estimated Financial Plan (EFP) STEP 3: The remaining investment conversation STEP 4: Discuss student follow-up FAST

Fast: Step 1 Review the ISIR Confirmation page • What is the student’s dependency status? • Are there verification or C-Code issues? • If so, discuss what the student needs to resolve these issues • What is the student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC)?   17. First advising meeting The First Advising Meeting (FAM) is meant to welcome the student to the university! This meeting should help the student to become orientated with their campus or center, and also to position the student for success by ensuring their classes and program are properly enrolled. • Summarize how Student Central will support the student and describe the SSA role • Verify the student’s information • Confirm the student’s degree program • Review DegreeWorks and the student’s course plan • Review transcript information (if applicable) • Walkthrough the registration process FAM

FAM: transcripts review • Review and display the number of credit hours required for their chosen program • Using Perceptive Content & DegreeWorks identify their transcript evaluation and determine how many credits were able to be transferred into the student’s degree program • If the student has not turned in transcripts, but thinks they may have applicable classes from another university, go through the transcript request process.   24. Student Central Milestone Report This report is updated 3 times a week. It will help you to track your new student’s progress through the clearance process. Let’s take a look:

  25. Student clearance Students may begin to register prior to the FAM and FAST meetings. Admissions will typically begin the registration process and all classes that have been registered for should be verified by the SSA. Expectation: Clearance in 10 business days SAAACKL Banner

  31. 10 Day clearance Day 1 (within 24 hours) Day of Application Day 2 - 5 Day 3 - 7 Day 4 - 10 • Sets expectation of FAFSA process • Schedule Financial Aid (FA) appointment using SFDC calendar (can be scheduled with assigned SSA or other SSA in the Group) • Real Time Transfer (RTT) to assigned SSA or other SSA in Group as needed • ISIR review • Discuss requested documents and set expectations for submission • Estimated Financial Plan (EFP) • Enter FAST date • FACL when possible • Confirm if FAFSA has been completed • Ask student to bring confirmation page if done but not populated • Confirm FA appointment (DEM shares confirmation responsibility) • Confirm all necessary items completed Advisor Tasks: SSA Tasks: • If RTT is not completed, assigned SSA must make outreach within 24 hours • Review FA basics, confirm funding source, loan history, reinforce expectation for FAFSA process and next steps for FAA • SSA will follow-up on outstanding items holding the student back from FAC • DEM assists with RTT as needed • FAC complete
