  33. Application – New Area • If you need to edit any parameters, use key or to move the red box cursor to the desired parameter. • Use keys and to change the value. • Then press to accept and move the cursor to the next parameter. 33 TraxNav Training

  34. Application – New Area • The parameters used to define how a new area is generated are “Make area by” and “Option”. • The selections for these parameters will be described when we go to each method to make a new area. 34 TraxNav Training

  35. Application – New AreaAB LinesThe first and simplest method to generate a new area is to fly an AB line. TraxNav will make a rectangular area on the left or right of the AB line. The “Lines” and “Swath Width” parameters are used to calculate the width of the area. TraxNav Training

  36. Application – New Area : AB Line • Before making the AB line, you should check the following parameters: • “Lines”: Define how many lines will be created on the area. We just use 30 lines for training. You should always enter more than enough lines you may need for the treated area. • Select “Make area by” “AB Line” • If area is on the left of AB line, select “Left”. If area is on the right of AB line, select “Right”. • Finally select “OK” to continue. 36 TraxNav Training

  37. Application – New Area : AB Line • TraxNav enters the New Area mode. Now fly to the treated area. • TraxNav is waiting for you to enter point A. Note the “Pnt A” indicator at the top left corner of the screen. 37 TraxNav Training

  38. Application – New Area : AB Line • The controls are displayed at the bottom of the screen. This is called the Control Menu. Each key on the key pad is assigned a function above it. When you press a key, TraxNav will do the assigned function. • There are several different Control Menus depending on the flight mode. The key is used to switch between the Control Menus. • Convention: When we ask you to press a function key, for example <ZOOMIN+>, it is understood that we ask you to press the key on the keypad to do that function. As in the example, you should press key to do <ZOOMIN+>. 38 TraxNav Training

  39. Application – New Area : AB Line • Make sure that the function <NEXTPNT> is shown in the Control Menu. If it is not there, press until it appears. • Now when you get to point A on the area, press <NEXTPNT> to mark point A. • On the screen, point A is marked as a circle and the distance from point A to aircraft is shown at the top right corner of the screen. 39 TraxNav Training

  40. Application – New Area : AB Line • When you reach the end of area, press <NEXTPNT> to enter point B. • When point B is entered, TraxNav will generate the new area with target points, and enter the Grid mode. • The number of lines generated on the area is defined by the parameter “Lines” during Application Parameter setup. 40 TraxNav Training

  41. Application – New Area : AB Line • Navigation data is calculated based on the guide line represented by a red line extending from top to bottom of map window. This guide line is also called the locked line. • Note that “COR1” is a special waypoint which is used in the waypoint mode to guide you to fly to the area. • The area is ready for you to start your application. 41 TraxNav Training

  42. Application – New AreaMarkThis area generation method allows you to enter points or vertices to define an area. What you need to do is flying around the treated area and entering a point along the boundary of area. TraxNav Training

  43. Application – New Area : Mark • To use this method, select “Make area by” “Mark”. • Select “OK” and press to continue. 43 TraxNav Training

  44. Application – New Area : Mark • Now fly to the area and press <NEXTPNT> to mark the first point of area. 44 TraxNav Training

  45. Application – New Area : Mark • On the screen, a circle is plotted around each point of area. • Also the distance from the last point to aircraft is displayed at the top right corner of the screen. 45 TraxNav Training

  46. Application – New Area : Mark • Fly around the area. When you are at a corner of area, press the <NEXTPNT> key to mark the area boundary. • The distance shown on screen is the distance from the last entered point to the aircraft. 46 TraxNav Training

  47. Application – New Area : Mark • When the boundary of area is complete, press the <ENDAREA> key to finish area generation. • Note that you don’t have to close the area, i.e. the first and last points are not necessarily the same. 47 TraxNav Training

  48. Application – New Area : Mark • After completing the area generation, the area is shown with grid lines and target points. • As default, the line heading will be the heading from point 1 to point 2 (AB line) of area. You can change the line heading by selecting <NEWGRID> and create a new AB line. • TraxNav enters the Grid mode and provides you with guidance to fly the area starting from line 1. 48 TraxNav Training

  49. Application – New Area: Guidance • All guidance and navigation information are calculated based on the guide line or locked line. • The locked line is plotted red, extending from top to bottom of screen. • There are 2 bars at the top of the screen. The first (upper) bar normally indicates the Cross Track (XTrack) error. • The second (lower) bar can show XTrack error or Angle of Intercept (AOI). 49 TraxNav Training

  50. Application – New Area : Trigger Drops • Let’s start the mission with line 1. • Follow the guidance to keep the aircraft on the locked line. • At any time, the target point or drop point is marked with a circle. • The radius of circle is defined by the Trigger Radius in the Area Parameters. 50 TraxNav Training
