Applications to energy utilization, environmental consequences, sustainable development, environmental process analysis, and optimization. Inventory, impact and improvement analyses of energy systems. LCA Model development and utilization. Human health and safety considerations.

ENEE 505 Effluent Treatment Processes for Energy Industry Application of fundamental engineering concepts to develop process design specifications for physical, chemical and biological unit operations and processes used for the treatment of gaseous, liquid and solid effluents from production, transportation and utilization of carbon-based energy sources.

  8. ENEE 573 Engineering Aspects of Sustainable Communities Ecological footprint, life cycle assessment, sustainable construction, energy efficiency in buildings, intelligent and sustainable transportation, control of water/air pollution from mobile and stationary sources, energy from waste.

  9. ENEE 575 Alternative Energy Systems [Being taught for the first time in Winter 2010 by Dr. Hugo] Revised Proposed Calendar Description An overview of alternative energy systems including hydroelectric, wind, solar (thermal, concentrating and photovoltaic), and distributed generation using gas turbines. Energy system performance will be quantified using thermodynamic, fluid mechanic, and heat transfer analysis.
