  3. UPDATES • Education Rainbow Challenge Grades 6 - 8 • Register by Jan. 11, 2013 to mkendall@houstonisd.org • 3 teams per school • One per grade level • Five students per team Saturday Jan. 26, 2013

  4. UPDATES • All Math 7 Pre-AP students will take Math 8 STAAR in 2013 • EOC 15% rule: delayed for one year • Two new released items per course – will be posted on the wiki

  5. UPDATES • Houston Pathways Initiative • Looking for mathematics teachers of seniors • $250 stipend • Purpose – to prepare students for success on COMPASS • Contact – Dr. Kendall • Next DC Meeting: January 17, 2013 @ Hamilton MS Library

  6. RIGOR AND DIVERSE STUDENTS • Listen for……… • Ways to accommodate instruction to meet the needs of all students while maintaining rigor • Ways to adapt instruction to match ALLOWABLE accommodations on STAAR testing

  7. Rigor is Not a Four-Letter Word • Refresh your memory: pp.10-18 • Discuss with your shoulder partner

  8. Digging Into Rigor • In your Group, count off 1 and 2 • 1’s read pages 20-24 • 2’s read pages 25-29 • Use , ?, and ! markings

  9. Connections… • Discuss at your table what you have read • Can you find a connection to the presentation of our guest speaker?
