  1. Note taking and remembering EQ: How can I best take notes and remember new information?

  2. Good Listening in Class • Be ready! Have your assignments complete. Have a good attitude. • LISTEN and be attentive. • Manage your environment as best you can.

  3. Before Taking Notes • Review the material your teacher is going to cover. • Complete all classwork and homework assignments before class! • Come to class with materials you need.

  4. During Note Taking • Listen for important signal words: • “The most important point…: • “Remember that…” • “What you need to know” • DUH! “This will be on the test…: • Write quickly but legibly. • Write “?” next to what you don’t understand.

  5. After Note Taking • Rewrite your notes so they are clear and more legible. • Find the answers to the questions you noted. • Ask others for clarification (teacher or peers). • Summarize your notes.

  8. Now that it’s written…how do you remember it? • Flash cards: • Use both sides • Use multi colors • Limit the info on each card • Carry them with you! • Remember to shuffle them often.
