  2. What is the Alternative Assessment for Grade 3 Promotion? An assessment that complies with the established criteria of the Florida’s public school student progression law. • Students must demonstrate reading proficiency as required by Section 1008.25, Florida Statute. • Students may take the assessment only one time during each school year • Offered the last week of summer school • Will not be offered in the fall Pgs. 1 and 3

Ways to Demonstrate Reading Mastery for Grade 3 Promotion • March 2008 FCAT SSS test (Level 2 or higher) or, • March 2008 NRT test (45 percentile or higher) or, • Spring 2008 Grade 3 Portfolio (“good cause” criteria) or, • Summer 2008 Alternative Assessment for Grade 3 Promotion (45th percentile or higher), or • 2008 Grade 3 Mid-Year Promotion Pg. 1

  4. Students To Be Tested • All retained Grade 3 students who attend summer school will participate in the AAGTP. • Students at schools that are not opened for the summer may attend summer school and take the AAGTP at a host site. • Eligible students who do not attend summer school are eligible to participate in the AAGTP. • Schools will be provided with a list of eligible students from host and feeder schools.   5. Schedule of Activities • July 7-11: Complete the screencast training • July 11: Screencast Verification Form due to Student Assessment & Educational Testing • July 21 - 23: Materials delivered to schools • July 28: Administer AAGTP • July 29: Make-up administration, as necessary Pg. 2

  6. Schedule of Activities, Cont’d • July 30: Schools hand deliver materials to TDC • August 11: Schools pick up School Listings of Results at ITS • August 15: Student Assessment and Educational Testing sends via school mail Individual Student Report to schools Pgs. 2, and 14

  7. Accommodations • Accommodations must be provided for students who qualify. • Students with disabilities (SWD) • Section 504 students • English language learners (ELL) • Code used “accommodations” on ID Header Sheet • Test MUST NOT be read to students Pgs. 3 - 5

Receiving and Preparing Materials for Testing • Verify list of eligible students is complete and accurate • Primary 3 Stanford Achievement Test, 10th Edition will be administered as the AAGTP in Summer 2008 • Verify accuracy of testing materials received using packing list located in Box #1 • Report missing materials immediately • Immediately call TDC for additional materials, if needed • Securely store all test materials Pg. 5

Testing MaterialsEvery student tested will have a set of test materials:(Test Booklet and ID Header Sheet) • Test Booklet • Contains only Reading Comprehension subtest • Must write on top line on back of booklet: • Student Name • School Name • Teacher Name • DO NOT bubble student’s name or other identifying information • ID Header Sheet • Preprinted ID Header Sheets will be received for eligible students assigned to your location for summer school • If no preprinted ID Header, hand-bubble: • Student’s Name (last name, first name, andmiddle initial) • Student’s M-DCPS ID Number (7 digits) • Summer School Location Number (4 digits) • Student’s Current Grade Pg. 7

Training School Test Administrators and Proctors • Carefully select test administrators/proctors • Training should include: • Who must be tested • School’s testing schedule • Adhering to script (Included in Program Guide on pgs. 30-32) • Approximate time required for testing (no limits) • Providing accommodations • Ensuring optimal testing conditions • Test invalidations Pgs. 6 and 17

  13. Coding “Other Information” Field • ID Header Sheet • Coded ID Header Sheets must be submitted for all absent registered students. Pg. 7

Sample ID Header • 1 = NAME - Beginning at the left: Student's last name, first name, and middle initial • 2 = STUDENT'S ID NUMBER - Student's 7-digit ID number • 3 = SCHOOL - School's 4-digit location number • 4 = GRADE - Student's grade level • 5 = FORM - Obsolete (Leave Blank) • 6 = OPT (Leave Blank) • 7 =OTHER INFORMATION: • 5 = ABSENT • 6 = INVALIDATED • 9 = ACCOMMODATION(S) • See chart on page 7 of the Program Guide. Pg. 29

  15. Distribution & Tracking of Materials • Test booklets and test administration scripts are secure materials but do not include security numbers. • Test chair must inventory materials on receipt and report discrepancies immediately to Student Assessment and Educational Testing at 305-995-7520. • Use Teacher Count Sheet to account for test materials. • Test administrators must report discrepancies in counts to test chairperson. • Test chair must ensure all procedures are being followed in each testing room.   16. Administering the Test • Maintain security procedures • Recommend morning administration • Approximate preparation time: 10 minutes • Approximate testing time: 50 minutes; no breaks (except as an accommodation) • If a test is invalidated, there is no other opportunity or test that can be given in place of this assessment Pg. 8

Absences and Invalidations • Absent • Record student name on Record of Absences, Exemptions, and Invalidations Form • Code #5 in “Other Information” Field on ID Header Sheet • Place in manila envelope and label “ABSENT” • Invalidations • Record student name on Record of Absences, Exemptions, and Invalidations Form • Code #6 in “Other Information” Field on ID Header Sheet • Place in manila envelope and label “INVALIDATIONS” In the event of an invalidation of a student or a group of students, immediately call SAET at: 305-995-7520.   18. Damaged Test Booklets • Transfer student identification information and responses to new test booklet • Write “damaged” on front of test booklet • Verify information is transferred correctly • Submit replacement test booklet with “To Be Scored” materials • Place in manila envelope and label “DAMAGED” Pg. 10

  19. Returning Testing Materials • All testing materials must be returned to the TDC. • No materials may be kept or destroyed at a school. • Account for all test booklets (used and unused. • Must have ID Header Sheet for all students, including absent or withdrawn. • Count ID Header Sheets for students absent or invalidated. • Record on Return Packing List for “To Be Scored Materials” Form. • Must have “To Be Scored” set for each student who took the test. • Count the “To Be Scored” sets. • Complete the Return Packing List for “To Be Scored” Materials Form • Check back of “To Be Scored” test booklets for required information. • Place ID Header on top of the grid side of student’s used test booklet.
