  3. But one thing you will do for sure • WRITE RESEARCH PAPERS!!!!

  4. The First Step • The first thing to do when preparing to write a research paper is

  5. READ THE BOOK

  6. Next, you’ll do lots of things • Keep a reader’s journal • Choose a topic • Create a research hypothesis • Craft a working thesis • Find secondary sources • Take notes • Keep note cards • Create a works cited page

  7. Find secondary sources • Things others have written about your book • Books • Journal articles • Interviews

  8. Where do I find these??? You could try the Google Machine

  9. But maybe you should • Use a library database!

  11. Now you try it! • Find Literature Resource Center in the list of data bases • Remember your user name and password?

  12. Here’s what to do • Of Mice and Men – John Steinbeck • The Grapes of Wrath – John Steinbeck • One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest - Ken Kesey • The Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger • A Raisin in the Sun – Lorraine Hansberry • Perform basic, person, works search—look at articles under the tabs • Mark articles • Email one to yourself
