  3. Los Altos Rotary AIDS Project • Dude Angius, President of the Rotary AIDS Project, was asked to address the 1992 Rotary International convention in Orlando, Florida.

  4. HIV/AIDS Impacts Everyone • Through lost family, friends and acquaintances • Through decreased economic productivity • Through increased medical costs • Through psychological harm from fear and losses

Kathmandu, Nepal • Dr. Pushpa Bhatt operates • HIV/AIDS clinic for counseling, condoms, treatment, referral, testing, preventing HIV mother-to-child transmission with Nevirapene • Foster homes for children of HIV-infected sex workers (77 children on waiting list) • Partner: Rotary Club of Kathmandu

  15. What a Rotary Club Can Do SPONSOR distribution of “HIV, Health, and Your Community” • Provide practical HIV/AIDS information to health care workers and educators • Encourage involvement of community leaders

  16. The Los Altos Rotary AIDS Project • Distributed 5,000 copies of “HIV, Health, and Your Community” • Sponsored by grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation • Encouraged Rotarians to sponsor AIDS projects
