  6. A-G Requirements • 15 minimum courses required to be eligible for CSU/UC admissions • Eligibility =/= acceptance • Requirements must be completed withC grades or better-CSU/UC will NOT ACCEPT D or F GRADES in A-G courses-D or F in honors/AP class is NOT weighted

A-G Requirements History/Social Science – 2 YEARS REQUIRED-One year of world history, culture and historical geography.-One year of U.S. history OR ½ year of U.S. history and ½ year of Civics or American Government.English – 4 YEARS REQUIREDFour years of college-preparatory English. Create a Balanced College List A college list should include a broad range of colleges: • “MATCH” SCHOOLS (2-3)- “I’ve got a pretty good shot here,” student’s academic profile is significantly stronger than middle 50% of admitted students • “LIKELY” SCHOOLS (3-5) - “In range for my profile, but tough to say,” student’s academic profile is similar to middle 50% • “REACH” SCHOOLS (2-3) - “Most selective based on my profile,” student’s academic profile is not as strong as middle 50% or admission to school is highly selective

  19. Cal State University (CSU) • Public, 4-year universities • 23 campuses statewide • Focus on applied learning • Schools vary in size (Monterey Bay – 7,600)(Long Beach - 32,000) • Generally higher admit rates than UCs with some exceptions

Academic Recommendations •Purpose: Teacher recommendations provide sense of academic performance and behavior in classroom setting. •Prepare 1-2 academic recommendations. •Usually, 11th grade academic teachers are best, since they have seen you daily in an academic context as of recently. Pro Tips: •Connect with your teachers. •Ask the teacher in-person, early on & provide helpful documents (resume, college list, brag sheet). •Always show gratitude.
