The Bologna Process: The European Attempt The Bologna Declaration was endorsed by 30 European countries in June 1999 to foster: • Quality assurance • Mobility of students, teachers and researchers • Universal accessibility and international transparency • Academic and professional recognition of qualifications • Enhancement of the implementation of European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS)

6. Following the footsteps of the EU, the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) was founded in 1991and the UMAP Credit Transfer Scheme was initiated in the year 2000.

7. The UCTS is a credit conversion scale set up to promote student mobility by ensuring that credits are received by students for study undertaken when on exchange at the host university.

8. W The UCTS credit points scale is a numerical measure of student workload, based on typical full-time student’s commitments over a full academic year. It measures both contact hour/class time and also private study time for a typical student enrolled in the course.
