  2. PURPOSES OF SCHOOL • Learning • Developing good character and citizenship

  3. Attendance • School starts at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 2:20 p.m. (2:30 p.m.: grades 4-6) • Cafeteria opens at 7:40 a.m. • Report to the office if you are late. • Strive for “Perfect Attendance”. • Your job is to come to school every day, on time, and be ready to learn.

  4. Attendance Goal Attendance Goal for the 2013-2014 School Year = 97% • Students with perfect attendance will be rewarded. • Students with poor attendance will need to meet with the Principal. • Thunderbolt Attendance Challenge

  5. Must be suitable for school – neat, clean, size appropriate, and in good repair. Any clothing that is a distraction to the learning process is not allowed. No inappropriate pictures, images, designs, slogans, symbols, or wording on clothing Wear shoes you can play in. No flip flops or sandals. Always look your best! Dress Code

  6. IF I FOLLOW ALL THE RULES • Safety • Classroom and school awards • Good Citizen

  7. IF I DON’T FOLLOW THE RULES • Get hurt or hurt someone else • Loss of privilege • Office Referral • Detention • Parent contacted

  8. WHAT HAPPENS IN THE OFFICE? • Counsel and Warning • Detention/Loss of Privilege • Parent Contact • Suspension • Expulsion

  9. Eight Problems That Can Lead To Serious Trouble Physical Injury / Retaliation Dangerous Objects / Replica Weapons Disrupting School Activities Property Damage Robbery / Extortion Profanity, Vulgarity, Obscene Acts Sexual Harassment Controlled Substances

  10. PHYSICAL INJURY • HURTING SOMEONE • Really • Trying to • Threatening to • NO PLAY FIGHTING • Bullying behaviors will not be tolerated. • Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.

  11. DANGEROUS OBJECTS • Just having it • Includes: • Anything that looks like a weapon (replicas or toys) • Anything you can use dangerously

  12. DISRUPTING SCHOOL ACTIVITIES • Defiance (not doing what you are told) • Interrupting class • Keeping other students from learning • Keeping teachers from teaching

  13. PROPERTY DAMAGE • School Property • Private Property • Really doing it • Trying to do it

  14. ROBBERY/EXTORTION • Stealing • Trying to steal • Having something stolen for you • Telling someone they better bring something to you

  15. PROFANITY, VULGARITY, OBSCENE ACTS • Bad words • Bad signs • Bad pictures @$!*#

  16. SEXUAL HARRASSMENT • Making people feel uncomfortable • Continuing after being asked to stop

  17. CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES • Drugs • Cigarettes • Medicine • Alcohol

Hueneme School Rules We come to school to learn. • We listen, follow directions, and stay on task. • We respect others and their property. • We allow the teacher to teach and all students to learn. • We keep our hands, feet, and other objects to ourselves. • We are on time with materials and prepared to work. • We come to school everyday and on time. • We try our best at all times.
