Currently serving as the President of Sargent Corporation, Herbert R. Sargent is an experienced professional in the heavy construction industry. Based in Stillwater, Maine, his company employs approximately 400 people and executes a wide range of construction projects in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Maryland, and Virginia. Herbert R. Sargent maintains responsibility over all operational and financial aspects of the company. Under his leadership, Sargent Corporation has achieved numerous awards, including the Bangor Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award in 2006, the Maine Chamber of Commerce Maine Investor Award in 2009, and the Gold Well Workplace Award in 2010. Sargent Corporation has also earned the AGC Build Maine Award for the past three consecutive years. As a conscientious business owner, Herbert R. Sargent ensures that his company provides each employee with a generous retirement plan. Herbert R. Sargent established his career in the construction industry at a young age, when he joined H.E. Sargent, Inc., his family’s construction business. In 1983, after his first year working full-time with the company, he achieved a promotion to serve as a Foreman. Continuing to quickly advance in the company, he became a Superintendent in 1986 and a Project Manager in 1989. Leaving H.E. Sargent in 1991, Herbert R. Sargent founded his own construction businesses, Sargent & Sargent in Hampden, Maine. In 2005, he established Sargent Corporation as the merger of Sargent & Sargent and H.E. Sargent. This merger increased his company’s annual revenues by 500%. Highly engaged in his industry, Herbert R. Sargent is a past President of the Associated General Contractors of Maine and of the Maine Better Transportation Association. He currently serves on the boards of organizations such as the Maine Economic Research Institute, Citizens for Quality Education, the Maine Economic Research Institute, and the Maine Chamber of Commerce.
