  2. HISTORY OF CINNAMON OIL Cinnamon Oil comes from a tree known by two botanical names: Cinnamomum zeylanicum and Cinnamomum vervun, which both refer to the same species. This is the species that is regarded Cinnamon in its purest form. The term "amomon" or "qinnamon," the Arabic and Hebraic words for "fragrant spice plant," inspired the English name. It is cultivated and exported all over the world as both a spice and an essential oil. Due to the inner bark's natural inclination to create a tube shape as it dries and retracts into itself, cinnamon was also given the Early Modern English names "canel" and "canella," which were rooted in the Latin word for "tube." Cinnamon Essential Oil can be extracted from the tree's outer bark or leaves, which is why there are two primary types: Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil and Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil. Types of cinnamon oil Cinnamon oil is made from the bark or leaves of a variety of trees, including the Cinnamomum verum and Cinnamomum cassia. The most commonly accessible cinnamon oil is cassia cinnamon, which comes from the Cinnamomum cassia tree. Ceylon cinnamon is made from the cinnamon plant Cinnamomum verum. The price of this kind is higher. Compounds and phytochemicals such as cinnamaldehyde and eugenol are found in both forms. Cinnamon's health benefits are due to these components.
