  2. Entry Data • In order to enter a child in the ESOL program, it’s important to enter the correct code. This segment will provide information about specific codes to use on mainframe. • If students have not passed the LAB with a percentile of 33% or higher in each of the subtests, they will be LY (enter LY in the Ltd Eng Cd field).

  3. For Pre-K students please refer to the Pre-K Informational Sheet in the ESOL Document Bank for data entry. • KG students who attended Pre-K and have not passed the LAB in KG their Basis of entry code will be A. • Students who enter our schools during FTE week will also have a Basis of entry code of T until tested.

  4. New (to district) ELL students in grades K-2 who have not passed the LAB will have a Basis of entry code of A. • New ELL students in grades 3-12 who have not passed the LAB will have a Basis of entry code of R.

  5. For LY students, other important information (dates and codes) should also be entered on the mainframe. • For KG students, please refer to the Pre-K Informational Sheet in the ESOL Document Bank to enter specific codes and dates.

  6. Entry Data -Dates • For 1st-12th grade students, in addition to codes these dates should also be entered in the ESOL Information segment of the mainframe: Dates to enter Entry date: the date the student enters the ESOL program, normally the student’s first day of school (will never change) Plan date: 1st day in school in of current year. Student receives a schedule. (changes annually) Classification date: date of initial LAB testing (will never change)

  7. Entry Data Codes Codes to enter • Instructional Strategy: C • Extension of Instruction: Y Enter Y after 3 years of ESOL services from the first classification date.

  8. FTE MAX: X Enter X after 6 years of ESOL services. Check that child attended school during both FTE Surveys each year on Screen #2 to total 12 Ys. If child withdrew and reentered, it’s best to print out this screen(s) and file in Blue insert to show that child was out of the county. Also a note can be made inside of blue insert cover.

  9. Exit Data In order to exit a child out of the ESOL program, it’s important to enter the correct code (s). This segment will provide information about specific codes to use on the mainframe. There are two fields to exit ELLs. • In order for ELLs to exit the ESOL program, please be aware of the new passing composite scores for CELLA K-2= > 2050 3-5= > 2151 6-8= > 2200 9-12= >2250 • In order for ELLs to exit the ESOL program, they also need to score a level of 3 on the FCAT Reading

Entering exit codes on mainframe: • Basis of Exit Code1 (use code B if child has passed the CELLA) for grades k-12 • Basis of Exit Code2 (use code E if child has passed the FCAT Reading ) for grades 3-12 • If child has passed the CELLA and FCAT in the same year, enter LF in the Ltd Eng Cd field.

  11. LF monitoring dates will also be entered for a period of 2 years in the following areas: 1st report card 1st semi an review 2nd semi an review End of 2nd year • For specific LF monitoring dates, please refer to the LF monitoring chart in the ESOL Document Bank

  12. LZ students Please check that all four LF monitoring dates have already been entered on the mainframe before placing the LZ code.

  13. Basis L entry/exit data • If students re-enter the ESOL program through an ELL committee, the Basis of entry code will be L. The reclass date (date of the ELL meeting to re-enter student) should also be entered. • If students exit the ESOL program through an ELL committee, the Basis of exit code will also be L. The reclass exit date (date of the ELL meeting to exit student) should also be entered. • Any student entering through an ELL committee meeting should also exit through an ELL committee meeting. In this case: Basis of Entry is L Basis of Exit is L

  14. The date of the ELL Committee meeting will be used as the re-eval date on the student’s profile and mainframe if it occurs at the end of the 3rd,4th,and 5th year the ELL is in the ESOL program.

  15. Re-evaluation Data for non-Basis L • A date should be included in the Re-Eval date field if students are being reevaluated. • According to the ELL Database and Program handbook, this data element is NOT to be used to record ANNUAL DIAGNOSTIC ELL assessment dates; it should only be used for the required reevaluation that occurs at the end of the third,fourth and fifth year the ELL is in the ESOL program (enter last day of the school year in the re-eval date field).

  16. ZZ Data • If students are new to the county and have passed the LAB with a percentile of 33% or higher in each of the subtests, they will become ZZ. • Enter ZZ in the Ltd Eng Cd field
