  1. T-Shirt Scarf Ms. Kanoy

  2. What You Need • Old t-shirt • Picture shows Large Black t-shirt • Rotary cutter and mat • Scissors

  3. Step 1 • Cut the hem off the bottom of the t-shirt

  4. Step 2 • Begin cutting the t-shirt horizontally into 1 inch strips which will be loops • You’ll need 14-16 to complete

  5. Step 3 • Cut the loops at one end to make long strips

  6. Step 4 • Lay out 12 strips lengthwise

  7. Step 5 • Match up all of the ends from one end

  8. Step 6 • Using one extra cut strip, tie a knot around the 12 strips you plan to use

  9. Step 7 • Once tied together, separate the strips into 3 groups of 4 strips

  10. Step 8 • Begin braiding the 3 sections together for as long as you’d like

  11. Step 9 • When desired length of braid is reached, use another extra strip to tie a knot at the end of the braid (like you did to start the braid)

  12. Step 10 • Gather the ends of the unbraided strips together and tie a knot around them with the slack from the strip you tied the first knot with. This will create the circle of the scarf.

  13. Step 11 • With the ends of the strips left after the knot, twist around scarf and secure with a knot. Cut ends off or pin back if desired.

  14. Step 12 • Wear your new no-sew, recycled scarf! 
