  2. Heat and emotions may trigger excessive sweating • Neurologic, metabolic, and other systemic diseases. This even happens to people who are healthy; therefore, weight is not a factor. What Are the Cause(s)?

  3. Symptoms are dry mouth, blurred vision, wetness • Affects the hands, feet , and armpits • Visible signs can’t be noted at the Doctor’s office • Tests: 1. Starch- codine test (a codine solution is applied to the sweaty area. After it dries, starch is sprinkled on the area. • 2. Paper test *In majority, no cause can be found. Genetic. Signs and Symptoms

When excessive sweating occurs in typical areas it’s called Focal or Primary- 2% to 3% of the populationare effected. • <40% patients seek medical help • If excessive sweating is caused by another medical condition it’s called Secondary (all over body or one area) • Conditions: acromegaly, anxiety conditions, cancer, carcinoid syndrome, glucose control disorders, heart disease, lung disease, stroke, and tuberculosis Continuation

  5. Antiperspirants: Certain- Dri • Medications: Robinul Forte containing aluminum chloride hexhydrate • Iontophoresis: (electrical therapy) Uses tap water and electric waves • Botox • Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (surgery) Treatments

  6. There are no results in having a cure or prevention for excessive sweating. It is mostly a genetic disease or triggered by a medical condition. Cures + Preventions
