  2. Facts about water! • Water generates most of the electricity in the U. S. A. • It is a renewable resource. • One of the oldest kids of energy is water. • It relies on the water cycle. • All living things need it to survive. • Water energy is eco-friendly.

  3. How Water Energy Works • Water Energy can be used with many things including water wheels, dams, and water turbines. • Hydroelectric power works because the water from a reservoir goes through an intake. Then it goes through the penstock which powers the turbine. The turbine powers the generator which makes electricity. The rest of the water goes into a river.

  4. Advantages of water energy • It is cheap to produce! • It is easy to obtain! • It causes no pollution! • There is plenty of water so we will never run out of it! • It never stops working!

  5. Disadvantages • Dams are very expensive to high standards • The high expense of a dam construction means that they have to operate for many years to become profitable. • The flooding of a very large area means that the natural environment is ruined. • People living in villages and towns must move out. If they move out. They loose their forms and jobs.

  6. Renewable energy Water energy is renewable because of the water cycle. Also we will never run out so it leeps raining and puts the water through the dam.

  7. Environment Water is great for the environment. It doesn’t pollute the air. It is also a renewable resource so, it won’t ever run out! It is a natural resource too!

  8. Using it in Pittsburgh • Water energy does exist in Pittsburgh. • The Monongahela River runs from Pittsburgh, PA to New Martinsville, WV. It has nine. dams along the way. • The Allegheny River runs from Pittsburgh, PA to East Bradey, PA. It has eight dams along it. • Most of these dams power Pittsburgh.

  9. Water We have a lot of water so we don’t have to worry about it running out. It has been a great source of energy for many years and it will be for many more! http://morewithmusic.bandcamp.com/track/water-energy
