  1. Thomas Green By: Amy Oliver & Conor Nichols.

  2. Early Life- On June 8, 1814 Thomas Green was born in Amelia County, Virginia. Later, he moved to Tennessee. He attended University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and later attended Princeton.

  3. Career Before The Civil War- Before The Civil War, Thomas Green studied law, along with his father.

  4. Career During The Civil War • He was elected Colonel of the 5th Texas Calvary in early 1861. Then, Thomas Green led the Battle of Valverde. He led his division of calvary in the Red River Campaign. He was a leader in most of the Civil War battles.

  5. How & When did he die? • Thomas Green died on April 12, 1864. He did not make it through the Civil War. He died from a federal gunboat while leading the attack in the Red River Campaign. He was buried in Austin, TX.
