DCPR Changes for GOES-R • On the GOES-N/O/P satellites the DCPR downlink band is 1694.3 – 1694.7 MHz • The uplink Pilot at 407.85 MHz is translated to 1694.45 MHz in the existing downlink • For the GOES-R series satellites the DCPR downlink band will be 1679.7 – 1680.1 MHz • The uplink Pilot at 407.85 MHz will be translated to 1679.85 MHz in the new downlink • No uplink frequencies will change from the GOES-N to GOES-R satellites – only the downlinks • All other changes occur in transmitters or ground system

  3. Other Transitions • All other transitions are transmitter and ground system based • High Data Rate Transition • Version 2 Transmitters • DADDS Implementation GOES DCS Transition

  4. High Data Rate (HDR) • Phase out all 100 bit per second transmitters • Final date May 31, 2013 • Announced May 1, 2003 • 10 year transition • 721 100 bps transmitters active from app. 9000 • 22,983 300 and 1200 bps transmitters active WE ARE ALMOST FINISHED!!! GOES DCS Transition

Version II (CS2) Narrow Band Transition • New transmitters use ½ the bandwidth • Most existing manufacturers certified at v.2 • Ground system configured to accept data on existing channels in either mode (CS1 or CS2) • Once existing channels are populated new channels can be created between them • Existing channels will retain same number • New channels will add 300 • Only CS2 transmitters can be purchased GOES DCS Transition
