Adding and Subtracting

Adding and Subtracting. 4 + 6 – 3 – 9 We can think of this as: =(+4) + (+6) + (-3) + (-9) We would then group positives, and the negatives with like terms. =(+10) + (-12) =-2. Example #1. -3 + 8 – 7 – 5 + 12 This means: (-3) + (+8) + (-7) + (-5) + (+12) Group positives and negatives.
