  1. Heaven Sent Electrical: What offer While a free home safety inspection! As general knowledge goes, electricity is dangerous. Power surges, Electrical shocks and fires are 3 common ways to encounter electrical danger in your home. To avoid such danger, you should ensure your home is equipped with modern safety switches, surge protection and circuit breakers. However, we don’t expect you to understand what that all means! Leave it in the capable hands of one of our Melbourne Electricians to assess your home’s safety. As explained by a Melbourne Electrician, this is what goes down during our free home safety checks. Testing of safety switches: We always start at the switchboard. The main point that connects all safety switches and circuit breakers- this helps us to decipher if there are any trips from circuit overloading or unsafe appliances.

  2. By checking the activity of safety switches (voltage and electrical resistance), we know that if a circuit overloads the flow of power will be cut. This prevents active exposure for human contact. Check insulation and assess quality of wiring: Insulation of electrical wiring provides a barrier between live voltage and you! With anything, overtime insulation becomes worn out, and can lead to exposure of live wiring. Perhaps you live in an old home and feel uneasy about the standard of wiring that is present? We will check that there is no fraying or exposure of live wiring that provide no protection from electric shock contact. If exposed or unsafe wiring is noted. We will find a temporary solution to keep you safe until the entire wiring is entirely replaced. Capacity testing: Each circuit in your home has a particular voltage threshold- the safest amount of power that the circuit can safely manage. The issue with older homes is that circuits were not designed to manage the electrical power of modern-day appliances! Without the wiring to handle this and with circuits being pushed to their limits, you will likely experience frequent power outages. If this is the case, your Melbourne Electrician can organize a quote to upgrade your circuits power.

  3. Your electrician will ensure safety around water It’s no secret that electricity and water don’t mix. But keeping the two completely separate and out of harm’s way is not always as easy as it looks. What about electricity around water supply? A power supply of tools for use in the pool may come to mind. This is why electrical outlets surrounding “wet areas” are fitted with extra essential safety features. During your home safety inspection, we will check that these outlets are installed with ground fault circuit interrupters. These “GFCI” devices, are mini circuit breakers that are integrated to stop the flow of power immediately when in contact with water. This is opposed to waiting for conductivity to first reach the safety switch. This is important as electrocution can happen in just seconds. In summary, you should opt for an electrical inspection if you are moving into a new home, own an older home that you have concerns about, or if you have noticed some worrisome features such as: circuit breaker tripping, burning smell, overloaded circuits.
