  2. Sunun • The sun is an orangey yellow sort of colour. It is a star too. In a Dr Who episode called 42 people were crashing into the sun. Did you know that Sunday was named after the Sun? Did you know what the sun has on it? It has a solar tornado, it has a sun storm , it has a faculae (white spots) , it has some sun spots , it has a solar flare , it has a corner (outer glow from thesun).

  3. Mercury • Mercury is the hottest planet because it is next to the Sun. Mercury is grey.

  4. Venus • Venus is about the size as Earth and is known as Earths sister planet. It has volcanoes, mountains, and valleys- much as Earth does. However you won't survive on Venus for one second. You’d be crushed by the pressurized atmosphere, poisoned by deadly gases, and fried by the heat.

  5. Earth • In Earth people are going on missions into space. On Earth there is something called the Niagara Falls.

  6. Mars • Mars has a dust storm it is dangerous. If you were going to visit any other planets , Mars would be the easiest to live on. You could only breath on Mars with a space suit on. In some ways Mars is like our Earth.

  7. Jupiter Jupiter is the biggest planet in our galaxy. More than 1300 Earths can fit in Jupiter. Jupiter has no solid surface and mainly made out of hydrogen. More than 60 moons orbit Jupiter. THE GREAT RED SPOT A huge violent hurricane blows non-stop on Jupiter. It is around 25,000 KM(16,000 miles) across-about twice the size of Earth.

  8. Saturn • Saturn is the second biggest planet (after Jupiter) in the solar system. The planet is made out of gas so it’s impossible to land on its surface. Saturn has amazing sparkling rings made of millions of pieces of ice. But apart from the beauty of its rings, Saturn is a bleak place. It suffers giant thunderstorms and wind that reach speeds of 1800 KM (1,100 miles) an hour.

  9. Uranus • Uranus is a planetto get to know. It is a long way from the sun and takes 84 years to orbit it. Also called an “ice giant” Uranus is thecoldest of the planets. It has few features and is made up of layers of gases and liquid, with a centre of icy rock. Uranus is surrounded by moons , whose varied landscape contrast with the bleak emptiness of the planet itself.

  10. Neptune Neptune is the furthest planet from the Sun. It would take an aircraft more than 500 years to fly here from earth. It is similar in size and make-up to Uranus , and is often called its twin. Because Neptune is so far away from the Sun it is bitterly cold.

  11. Pluto and beyond Pluto isn't a planet anymore it is the biggest moon. As well as the eight major planets of the solar system, there are many small or dwarf, planets. Pluto/ minor –planet designation 134340 Pluto, is the largest object in the Kuiper belt, and the tenth most- massive body observed directly orbiting the sun. These include Pluto, a ball made of ice and rock and ceiris, a tiny planet that lies in the asteroids belt, while much further out lies the remote world of Eris. There are lots of dwarf planets floating all over the solar system, just waiting to be found.

  12. The moon • Do you know what the moon has on it? It has an astronauts foot print. The moon is our nearest neighbour in space , and the only place that astronaut's have landed on. It is dusty, airless place, covered in craters. The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite.

  13. Galaxies • Galaxies are made of billion's of stars. There are more than 7 billion galaxies. Our galaxy is called the Milky Way. Galaxies have got names like spiral. Spiral has arms curling out from the centre. Barred spiral is a galaxy it has arms curling out from the central bar stars (like our Milky Way).

  14. The Universe • The Universe means everything. The Universe is getting bigger. We don't know how big the Universe is. The big bang Most scientists believe that the universe came into being more than 13 billion years ago. A tiny spot became very hot and dense, and exploded into what we now call the Universe. This event is called the “Big bang”. No one knows what caused it.

  15. Black Hole • A Black Hole is dangerous. It can explode stuff. It looks like a planet. If Earth exploded it woud look like this… A BLACK HOLE Is a part of space from which gravity prevents anything, including light, from escaping.
