  1. 2KX3 Philippians 3:4b-14

  2. L This is the day which the Lord has made; C let us rejoice and be glad in it. L From the rising of the sun to its setting, C the name of the Lord is to be praised. L Return to the Lord, your God, for He is gracious and merciful, C slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love, and repents of evil. L Jesus said: If any man would come after Me,

  3. C let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. L Christ was wounded for our transgressions. C He was bruised for our iniquities. L From the rising of the sun to its setting, C the name of the Lord is to be praised. C Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

  4. Psalm 126 The Lord has done great things for us;    we are glad. When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,    we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter,    and our tongue with shouts of joy;then they said among the nations,    “The Lord has done great things for them.” TheLord has done great things for us;    we are glad.

  5. The Lord has done great things for us;    we are glad. Restore our fortunes, O Lord,    like streams in the Negeb! Those who sow in tears    shall reap with shouts of joy!He who goes out weeping,    bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy,    bringing his sheaves with him. The Lord has done great things for us;    we are glad.

  6. Collect for the Word L Blessed Lord, You have caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning. Grant that we may so hear them, read, mark, learn, and take them to heart that, by the patience and comfort of Your holy Word, we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives on reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C Amen.

  7. Isaiah 43:16-21 16 Thus says the Lord,    who makes a way in the sea,    a path in the mighty waters,17 who brings forth chariot and horse,    army and warrior; they lie down, they cannot rise,    they are extinguished, quenched like a wick:18 “Remember not the former things,    nor consider the things of old.19 Behold, I am doing a new thing;    now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?

  8. I will make a way in the wilderness    and rivers in the desert.20 The wild beasts will honor me,    the jackals and the ostriches, for I give water in the wilderness,    rivers in the desert, to give drink to my chosen people,21     the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.

  9. Philippians 3:4b-14 If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. 7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—

  10. 10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Straining Toward the Goal 12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

  11. Please Stand for the Holy GospelLuke 20:9-20 The Parable of the Wicked Tenants 9 And he began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard and let it out to tenants and went into another country for a long while. 10 When the time came, he sent a servantto the tenants, so that they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed.11 And he sent another servant. But they also beat and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed. 12 And he sent yet a third. This one also they wounded and cast out. 13 Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.’ 14 But when the tenants saw him, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir. Let us kill him, so that the inheritance may be ours.’ 15 And they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?

  12. 16 He will come and destroy those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” When they heard this, they said, “Surely not!” 17 But he looked directly at them and said, “What then is this that is written: “‘The stone that the builders rejected    has become the cornerstone’? 18 Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.” Paying Taxes to Caesar 19 The scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him at that very hour, for they perceived that he had told this parable against them, but they feared the people. 20 So they watched him and sent spies, who pretended to be sincere, that they might catch him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the authority and jurisdiction of the governor.

  19. 2KX3 • 2 Kinds of Righteousness • Philippians 4b-8 • What you once were, what you are now • 2 Kinds of Confidence • Philippians 9-11 • What you once had, what you have now • 2 Kinds of Pursuit • Philippians 12-14 • The life you lived before, the life you press on for now

  20. Prayer • People loved by God, let us come before our Father’s throne of grace with confidence through our Lord Jesus and, in the power of His Spirit, ask His mercy for all in need. • Brief silence. • Heavenly Father, through Your Son You have done a new thing that leaves Your Church astonished in praise and adoration. You sent Him into this world in order to be our righteousness and to bestow on us, who deserved only to be cast out, His own eternal inheritance. For this we give you glory and praise. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer. • Bestow Your Spirit, we pray, on all the ministers of the Gospel, especially Matthew Harrison our Synod President, Dan Gilbert, our District President and all missionaries and servants of the Church, that they be given grace to forget what lies behind and strain forward to what lies ahead, the prize of the upward call You have sounded in Your Son. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

  21. Prayer • Kind Father, remember in Your compassion this family of Your children. Fill us with Your joy in these Lenten days and make us strong witnesses to Your Son’s death and resurrection for the world’s salvation. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer. • King of all, You hold in Your hand all the powers that exist throughout the world. We commend to you all the public servants of our nation, all who make, judge, enforce our laws and all who serve in our armed forces. Make them a blessing of Yours and strengthen and uphold them in every good deed. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer. • Lover of the human race, remember all who call upon You in their hour of need: the sick, the suffering, the persecuted, the dying, the grieving and especially all for whom our prayers are desired [Your servants Bob Wagenecht, Lauren Story, Nate Quinn]. May Your holy angels attend them and the sweet promises of Your Word strengthen them, granting to each that relief which You know to be best. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

  22. Prayer • Bountiful Giver of every blessing, we rejoice to give You thanks for Your great mercies to us. Day by day without any merit or worthiness in us, Your good gifts shower down upon us. [We thank You today particularly for Steve Sullivan and Tori Sullivan]. To You we give all praise in union with Christ our Lord. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer. • Join our prayers and praises with those of Your faithful people of every time and every place and unite them in the ceaseless petitions of our great High Priest until He comes again in power and great glory as victorious Lord of all. Through Him, with Him and in Him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is Yours, almighty Father, forever and ever! Amen.

  23. Evening Prayer C I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.

  24. Blessing L Let us bless the Lord. C Thanks be to God. P The almighty and merciful Lord, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, bless and preserve you. C Amen.
