  1. What Is Inner Child Work? A Guide To Healing Your Inner Child The "child-like version" of a person is called the inner child. The subconscious carries an inner child, which reflects the person's own self when he or she was young and a child. This "inner child" psyche carries all the experiences, teachings, and lessons that a person receives when he or she is young. Therefore, how a person may deal with the traumas, feelings, people, and challenges in life may be based on the reaction of the inner child psychology. However, the inner child does not go away when a person grows up. The adults also carry the inner child throughout their life. Inner child psychology may be even more evident when a person may have to deal with challenges and may have to respond to certain difficulties. It is this inner-child psychology and healing that may help us deal with the wounds and may help us regain the confidence. Someone can reconnect with others through childlike enthusiasm and happiness due to this inner child healing. However, a person may suffer from emotional distress and other psychological issues if the inner child psychology was hurt during the early years of life.

  2. Signs That Reveal Inner Child Being Hurt Almost all of us may have experienced some kind of trauma or suffering during childhood. People, therefore, need some healing, which can be accomplished if they connect with the inner child. Below are some of the behaviors that show that the inner child's psyche has been hurt and needs healing. · Self-criticism. · A perception of losing oneself. · A need for frequent reassurances. · Experiencing anxiety. · Trouble in dealing with emotions. Childhood experiences including abandonment, mistreatment, lack of compassion, trauma, and distress among others may cause emotional pain and damage to the inner-child psychology. Connecting with the Inner Child and Practicing Inner Child Healing It is important to understand the psychological and self-portion inner-child to heal it. The understanding of this part of the self that may be buried inside the memories can be accomplished when someone communicates with it in certain somatic and sensory ways. As you may remember, children may often use more intuitive noises, facial expressions, and body languages to communicate with each other. Therefore, when we can stretch our senses and can engage in activities that may use more of the senses, it may provide for identification, understanding, and communication with the inner child. It means going beyond the cognitive narratives and creating a new relationship with the part of the self, called the inner child.

  3. To do that, a person may have to associate more with the "right" part of the brain, which is associated with intuition, emotions, expressions, and creativity. Some of the ways through which you can develop the right part of the brain and heal your inner child psychology include: · Practicing mindfulness and breathwork. · Nurturing creativity through new and interesting hobbies and activities like drawing, reading, gardening, cooking, and others may take us back to our childhood. · Making the collections (similar to the coin collection children make). · Practicing visualization to tap into the sensors and imagination. · Journaling and expressing oneself freely and honestly. Conclusion Adults need to fulfil many responsibilities and therefore may be overburdened with stress and anxiety. However good mental health can only be achieved through relaxation and bringing some playfulness back to life. Healing the inner child ensures that you carry more positive experiences inside your psychology and can cope with life in a more meaningful, creative, and happy way.
