  1. The female Cerulean Warbler has an unusual way of leaving a nest after sitting on it a while. Some people call it "bungee-jumping." She drops from the side of the nest, keeping her wings folded to her sides, and opens her wings to fly only when she is well below the nest. (she must not want the kids or the husband to know she is taking off!)

  2. Marsh and Shore Birds • Live in marshes along the shores of lakes and oceans. • Long legs • Spearlikeor spoon-like bills • Food in ocean and lakes.

  3. Birds of Prey • Talons • Sharp, curved beaks to catch prey. • Carnivores, eat other birds, mice, etc.

  4. Ground Birds • These birds may b able to fly, but spend most of their time on the ground. • Build nests on ground or in low trees/bushes • Eat insects, small snakes, lizards and fruit. • Usually brown and/or gray to blend with surroundings.

  5. Perching Birds • Spend most of their time in trees. • Nest in trees. • Colorful. • Eat insects, fruit and/or seeds.
