  2. What Is CICO? • Targeted Intervention • Sometimes considered an extension of Universal Tier 1 • Ideally, implemented as a first targeted intervention • Designed to provide frequent, positive, behavioral feedback from Teacher to Student

  3. What does CICO look like? 3= Great 2= OK 1= Hard Time Name: ___________ Date: _______ • Morning Check-In with a designated Greeter • Students are given a DPR (Daily Progress Report) with school-wide expectations • Students are given feedback as the day progresses (not at the end of the day) • Afternoon Check-Out with the designated Greeter (Data Collected) • Sheet is sent home for parent information, supportive parent feedback and signature

  4. Pitfalls Teachers/Staff: • Focus on carrying DPR throughout the day • Not giving feedback as day progresses • Not giving enough verbal • Sometimes negative tone • Already very busy...resistant to implement Students: • Managing (remembering, etc.) • Motivation at times • Filling in their own sheet • Giving up on their day if they know they won’t make goal Parents: • Not signing or giving supportive feedback • Defensive regarding entry into program

  5. Process • Teacher Nomination • Parent Contact/Consent • Student Meeting/Explanation • Begin Program • Daily Data Collection • Weekly Data Entry • Monthly Data Review (Of Individual students progress and fidelity of intervention in the school) • Monthly Teacher Check-In • Check-Up meetings (tweaking) as needed • Graduation or self-monitoring (Data-based) *Addition of additional tiered interventions on top of CICO as needed at any point.
