  1. HL7 Mapper Plus: Abstracting Registry Plus Users Group Call 8/16/2007 Sanjeev Baral

  2. Highlights • Imports batches of HL7 messages (pathology reports) • Populates tables in the pathlab database • States can select what data items from pathology reports they want saved to the database • Identifies potential cancer reports by doing a term search; negation logic is included while doing the term search

  3. Highlights • Creates partial abstracts and lets coders fill in additional data items by reviewing path reports side by side • Abstracts can be exported in the NAACCR format to a file for matching with central registry database and can be loaded in Web Plus for follow-back • Exported abstracts have identifiers to link back to the pathlab database to view extra texts and other information not available in the NAACCR layout

  4. Message Flow with PHIN MS • This diagram shows flow of messages from a path lab to a CCR through PHIN MS • If you receive HL7 files some other way (without using PHIN MS) you can also import files manually • Note the three options available for writing reports to the database

  5. HL7 Mapper Plus - Main Screen Import a batch manually Export abstracts in the NAACCR format View what’s in the PHIN MS Queue Open a batch to view messages

  6. Import HL7 Files • When configured to poll PHIN MS queue new files are automatically imported right after arriving in the queue • Can import files manually if PHIN MS is not setup at your location and you receive files by some other means

  7. Browse Imported Batches • Shows the list of batches of pathology reports imported to date, and different counts Click here to open the selected batch and view reports inside

  8. Workbench - abstracting screen • Path report shows on the left and abstract shows on the right • Notice that cancer terms are marked up in the report - negated terms are in blue and non-negated terms are in red These buttons apply to the path report These buttons apply to the abstract

  9. Workbench - abstracting screen Mark for consult Use the navigation buttons to move through reports Finished coding Mark non-reportable

  10. Workbench - abstracting screen

  11. Workbench – add abstract

  12. Workbench – add abstract

  13. Workbench – customizing the abstracting screen Abstracting screen can be customized to display user-specified fields for both pathlab report and abstract

  14. Workbench - abstracting text fields Text fields

  15. Export partial abstracts

  16. Viewing Path Report from CRS Plus CRS Plus can be linked to the pathlab database, so that path reports can be viewed while processing
