  2. History The cocker spaniel breed is divided into two seperatre groups, the American cocker spaniel and the English cocker spaniel. These dogs were originally bred and used for hunting in the United Kingdom. They primarily hunted the Eurasian woodcock, which is part of how they got their name. Their origin is unknown but they are mentioned in 14th century writings.

  3. Facts • Size: 15.5-16 in. (males) 15-15.5 in. (females) • English cocker spaniel is the most successful breed in one of the most popular dog shows in the UK. • Silky flat or wavy coat, can be black, golden or light brown, parti-colored, black with tan points • Active, need daily exercise • Very intelligent and gentle • Family pet and hunting dog

Health Facts • Live to be about 10 years and 4 months • Most common causes of death is cancer, old age coming in second • Ear infections are common because of the size of their ears, its easier for them to hold moisture and letting in limited amounts of air, causing organisms to grow in their ears.
