  2. Report to the Collaboration -happenings in India-CMS A. Gurtu: "Report to the Collaboration", India-CMS Collaboration Meeting, PU, 5-6 April 2007

  3. HO installation (SRD later) • HO fully installed in YB+2, YB+1, YB0 and lowered by end-Feb 07. • Work on vertical sectors that had to be done after lowering also carried out • By end-June, YB-1 & YB-2 also “almost” installed in CMS detector on the surface. YB-2: One RBX remains to be installed. • YB-1: Test/commissioning of individual RBX’s done. • Next: Mount last RBX on YB-2; test each RBX. • Lowering of YB-2, YB-2: now in October 07. A. Gurtu: "Report to the Collaboration", India-CMS Collaboration Meeting, PU, 5-6 April 2007

  4. HO Commissioning • Commissioning of YB+2 was already done in MTCC • YB+1, YB0, YB-1, YB-2 global commissioning to be done. YB0 start was expected in mid-July, but - overall schedule may slip - for HO, some cables are needed, which are expected to arrive only by end-July. • Will go along with the evolving scenario of CMS & HO installation in accordance with the constraints. A. Gurtu: "Report to the Collaboration", India-CMS Collaboration Meeting, PU, 5-6 April 2007

  5. Skuja: HCAL commissioning: Schedule for HF, HE and HO • HF+ • Apr/May: completed • HF- will be commissioned as soon as we get LV power! • HO • June: YB-1, YB-2 in SX5 hall • July: HO on YB0 wheel • August: YB+2, YB+1 (waitingfor water cooling) • HE • June/July: start-up of YE+1 was delayed by lack of water cooling • Nov/Dec: YE-1 (waiting to be lowered) A. Gurtu: "Report to the Collaboration", India-CMS Collaboration Meeting, PU, 5-6 April 2007

  6. Skuja: Test Beam 2007 • Calibration of ZDC prior to its installation in the LHC beamline has been completed. However one of the ZDC modules was damaged in shipment and its copper matrix must be re-machined. • Combined EE/HE measurements in July. • SiPMT measurements in August  • Lumi electronics verification in August (?) • Manpower crunch between commissioning needs and test beam needs in summer of 2007 (TB mainly in July, while HB commissioning starts in August). We have a gaggle of students assigned to the test beam but very few supervisors. We invite our colleagues with Test Beam experience to help with the training/supervision of the students. A. Gurtu: "Report to the Collaboration", India-CMS Collaboration Meeting, PU, 5-6 April 2007

  7. Skuja: HO Muon Trigger • The official CMS position on the RPC trigger is that it does NOT require additional input from HO (as reported to the LHCC) • Is there any further information on the HO participation in the MUON trigger A. Gurtu: "Report to the Collaboration", India-CMS Collaboration Meeting, PU, 5-6 April 2007

  8. Skuja: Summary • HF+ is installed and commissioned as a prototype of CMS UX detector shake down. • Revisit HO trigger • HPD noise is not understood but is not a show-stopper (HO z position altered) • HCAL DPG and DCS have an enormous task list • TB07 requires supervisors for students A. Gurtu: "Report to the Collaboration", India-CMS Collaboration Meeting, PU, 5-6 April 2007

  9. Si-PSD status etc (AT later) • Will hear from ELD regarding status of sensor fabrication & module production and testing. • Si-PSD beam test in August • In lieu of 300 kCHF electronics contribution by BARC, - provision of manpower for 70 kCHF (2 technical assts for 1 man-year equivalent, from 1 Aug 07. - fabrication of OptoRx-12 module by ECIL, to be paid by BARC. Quotation sent to CERN by ECIL. A. Gurtu: "Report to the Collaboration", India-CMS Collaboration Meeting, PU, 5-6 April 2007

  10. David Barney <Dave.Barney@cern.ch> Jul 19 (13 hours ago) to cadnps <cadnps@ecil.co.in> cc Atul Gurtu <atul.gurtu@cern.ch>,lalwanisk@yahoo.co.in, Serge Reynaud <Serge.Reynaud@cern.ch>, Paschalis Vichoudis <Paschalis.Vichoudis@cern.ch>, Walter Snoeys <Walter.Snoeys@cern.ch> date Jul 19, 2007 6:21 PM subject RE: offer for OptoRx modules from ECIL, Hyd, India signed-by cern.ch mailed-by cern.ch Dear Sir Many thanks for your offer for the production of "optoRx" modules dated June 29th. I apologise for the delay in replying to you. I believe that we can proceed with an eventual order, but before doing so we need to make some practical arrangements. Firstly I need to have a single technical contact person in India. This person should be directly responsible for overseeing the complete production and quality control etc. as well as liasing between BARC, ECIL and CERN. Please could you agree, with Prof Gurtu and the representatives from BARC, on a suitable person as soon as possible and inform me? A. Gurtu: "Report to the Collaboration", India-CMS Collaboration Meeting, PU, 5-6 April 2007

  11. Secondly, before the full order is placed, we would like you to produce a small pre-series, perhaps of 2-3 complete pieces. If you agree to do this, please let me know when you could produce them so that we can arrange to send you the optical receivers. At that point I will also send the final production (Gerber) files to you. For the components (FPGA, all passive components etc.) please let me know how you would proceed for this pre-series of 2-3 pieces. i.e. would you procure all items yourself or do you wish to purchase them from CERN? I look forward to your response to the above issues, with kind regards, Dr. David Barney CMS Preshower Coordinator A. Gurtu: "Report to the Collaboration", India-CMS Collaboration Meeting, PU, 5-6 April 2007
