  2. Purpose of Placement • Place students into challenging classes • Meet the needs of every child • Place students into interventions • Place students into honors and high school courses

  3. Process • Students in the 5th through 7th grade will be taking entrance assessments in ELA and Math. • Student MAP Data • Student PASS Data • Student Grades • Gifted and Talented for Academics • Teacher Recommendation

  4. Assessments/Data • 2011 PASS scores in ELA and Math • 2012 Spring MAP Data • 2012 Entrance Assessments

  5. Rubric • Point System • Possible 10 Points on the Rubric • Need 7 out of 10 to be in Honors

  6. Point Distribution • MAP - =/> 85% - 2 Points - 75-84% - 1 Point • PASS - Exemplary = 2 Points - Met = 1 Point

  7. Point Distribution • Final Grades - Honors A = 2 Points - Honors B = 1 Point - Regular A = 1 Point • Final Grades Grade 5 - A = 2 Points - B = 1 Point

  8. Point Distribution • Gifted and Talented Academic - 1 Point • Teacher Recommendation - 1 Point

  9. Point Distribution • Grade Level Assessment ELA - =/> 42 out of 50 – 2 Points - 35-41 out of 50 – 1 Point • Grade Level Assessment Math - =/> 42 out of 50 - 2 Points - 35-41 out of 50 – 1 Point
