  2. Group 1 – the police Preserving and Isolating the scene If there is a death – remove the body and draw outline where body was found. DO NOT CONTAMINATE THE SCENE Tools – flash light, tape, markers

  3. Group 2 – the investigators Establish an over view of the crime. Take notes, make drawings of crime scene. Make measurements and description of crime scene, Search methodically for and mark evidence. DO NOT CONTAMINATE THE SCENE Tools – paper for drawing, form for documenting measurements and description, crime scene tents

  4. Group 3 – the photographers Photographs or video all relevant evidence without moving any of it. Photographs should include overviews and close ups. Photographs should include rulers for scale. Any video should be narrated. DO NOT CONTAMINATE THE SCENE Tools – phone for taking pictures and video, rulers.

  5. Group 4 – the collectors Collect all marked evidence and look for any evidence that could have been over looked. Bag and preserve any fibers, hairs. Trace evidence. Mark evidence bags with information – date, material… Develop a form that catalogs all collected evidence. DO NOT CONTAMINATE THE SCENE Tools – gloves, magnifiers, forceps, evidence bags, markers.

  6. Group 5 lab experts Check list of collected evidence. Make sure all evidence is preserved correctly. Classify evidence into categories. Work with class to develop strategies to preserve evidence. DO NOT CONTAMINATE THE SCENE Tools – secure evidence, leadership, instruction skills, research how to process evidence

  7. Tagging evidence All evidence must be tagged.
