Preface The present volume is a selection of papers presented in the Fifth International Conference on the Geology of Africa ,23-24 October 2007 and organized by the Department of Geology, Faculty of Science, Assiut University. Themain objective of this conference is to strengthen and promote the scientific cooperation among geologists concerned with the geology of Africa.

  7. Preface Theconference focuses on the exchange of ideas and knowledge among participants. The editors express their gratitude for the conference organizing committee who gave the best effort. From107 abstracts presented and discussed in the conference sessions, the present volume of the proceedings contains only 33 complete refereed papers, covering different branches of geology, selected for publication

  8. Preface The Editorial Board was very keen to distribute this volume of the proceedings in the present e-format to the participants of the conference in addition to a limited number of hard copies to be deposited in the libraries of universities, research and geological institutions.
