  1. TIPS AND TRICKS FOR ANT-PROOFING YOUR HOME DURING SUMMERS USING HOME REMEDIES

  2. INTRODUCTION Ants are a common nuisance during the summer season. They enter your homes in search of food and water. In summer we see a socially large population of ants. Because early summer and late spring are ants’ breeding times and they need lots of food. However, there are several indoor pest control ways and home remedies that can be used to deter ants and prevent them from invading your home.

  3. VINEGAR One effective remedy is to use vinegar. Ants dislike the strong smell of vinegar, so it can be used to repel them. Simply mix equal parts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray the solution along the areas where ants are entering your home, such as windows, doors, and baseboards. This will help to create a barrier that ants will avoid.

  4. LEMON Lemon juice or oranges can also be used to deter ants. These Citrus fruits have something called d-limonene. This is toxic to ants. The acidic nature of lemon juice also makes it a natural ant-repellent. You can squeeze fresh lemon juice around the areas where ants are entering your home, or wipe down surfaces with a cloth that has been soaked in lemon juice.

  5. BORIC ACID Boric acid is another effective home remedy for deterring ants. It is a natural insecticide and is used for home pest control. It is non-toxic to humans and pets. To use boric acid, mix it with sugar and place the mixture in a small container, such as a bottle cap. Place the container in areas where ants are present, but out of reach of children and pets. The ants will be attracted to the sugar and will ingest the boric acid, which will kill them.

  6. SEAL OFF THE CRACKS AND CREVICES Sealing any cracks and crevices in your home can help to prevent ants from entering. Ants can enter through even the smallest openings, so it is important to seal any gaps or holes in your walls, windows, and doors. This is a simple and effective way to protect your house from unwanted pests. Ideally, you should seal off all the crevices before summer arrives.

  7. CLEAN UP YOUR FOOD REMAINS You should always clean or throw away the leftover foods to prevent pest infestation. Use a dustbin with a lid and also make sure the pet food remains are also thrown away. Ants mainly enter your house for food and shelter. That is why it is important to not let those leftover food pile up.
