  2. What does texting mean to you? • “It helps me stay n touch with my daughter. She is always txtng & she lives in another city so it is a way 2 communicate & stay in touch with her.” Maryann • “Idk. Txting 2 me is a ez way 2 talk 2 my bffs and my gf w/o having 2 make a phone call. Its quick, efficient, & casual way to communicate LOL” Matt • “I talk to my friends and cousins this way. I don’t like calling bc they don’t always answer but they can see my txts fast so they can answer me back fast. It’s easier to talk to ppl this way. Alyssa

  3. Has txting affected communication in ne relationships, good or bad? • “Txting is gr8 4 my relationships. I have kept n touch with so many ppl better this way! It allows me freedom to say as much or as little as I need w/o having 2 b pressured by awkward social issues talking face2face.” Maryann • “Yes, gud. It makes it ez 4 me to tlk to my gf while I’m at work or when she’s doing hw. That way we can keep in contact w/o the commitment of a phone call and can also complete other stff while we txt.” Matt • “I can talk to ne1 I want w/o letting ppl hear what im saying so its good. I can keep secrets bettr this way 2 so I dnt tell my frnds secrets.” Alyssa

  4. When do u mostly txt? • “Usually when I’m @ home w/ my kids I txt my frnds or bf & when I’m @ work I txt my kids. It’s more discreet 2 txt @ work than 2 call.” Maryann • “I mstly txt when I’m @ work tlkin to my gf, or when I’m tryin to mke plans w/ ppl” Matt • “I txt my frnds lots when I’m @ home.” Alyssa

  5. Do u use ne otha type of communication? Calling, emailing, IMing, etc.? • “I use my cell 2 call but its usually fstr 2 txt. I email also bc its kinda like txting but not all ppl get it rite away so it’s not as effective.” Maryann • “Fo sho. I call and email as well. I also make several phone calls a day.” Matt • “I call ppl on my cellphn 2 & email.” Alyssa

  6. What r ur thoguhts on txting in this day n age? • “It can be a gr8 way of communication personally & professionally. I have many bosses & coworkers that plan this way & discuss business this way.” Maryann • “ :-) I like it. Xcept ppl shouldn’t do it while they drive :-(“ Matt • “I <3 it bc I talk 2 all my frnds this way.” Alyssa

  7. How wld u feel w/o txting? • “It wld b a bit of a burden jst bc txting is so convenient, easy & fast. I wld survive but it wld take alot of gttng used 2.” Maryann • “I wuld not b able 2 talk 2 my friends and fam as much, so I wldnt b 2 happy bout it. It’s a vry casual & convenient way 2 communicate.” Matt • “I would die!” Alyssa
